Cozy Days Are on the Way: Learn How to Make your Home Feel Cozier and More Comfortable

As the temperature begins to drop and kids start getting their Halloween costumes together, it is time for cozy days once again. This year, most people won’t be going out much at all, so it is time to make your home as cozy as possible. Here are some tips that can help you do that.

Choose Comfortable Furniture

Of course, no one would set out to buy uncomfortable furniture, but comfort is not always the top concern for many buyers. When choosing furniture, think about how it will feel to come home after a long day and sink into the couch, lie on the bed, sit in the kitchen chair, etc. If it would provide comfort, then it is a cozy choice.

Remember the Small Things

You might be looking at large steps you can take, such as getting comfortable furniture, as we mentioned above. However, do not forget the small things as they can make a big difference. For example, a throw blanket on your couch that is extra cozy, or a faux fir pillow. You can add rugs so that your feet sink right in and stay warm when it’s cool out. When’s the last time you upgraded your bedding? If it’s been a while, add some new cozy bedding.

Add Warm Lighting

When you think of a cozy room, do you think of a soft, candle-lit room or a bright room with many lightbulbs? It is likely that you imagine soft lighting. The good news is that at Mission West Kitchen & Bath we offer a variety of lighting options. We generally recommend installing several lighting sources so that you can make the room cozy by turning off most of the lights, but you will still have access to task lighting when you need to be able to see better.

Bring the Outside In

If you are one of the many people who feel most at home and coziest when you are in nature, then bringing a little bit of nature inside can be a great way to increase your coziness. Get some plants, or just use the color green in your décor to relax. If you are like many people, you might spend most of your day staring at screens. Having a bit of nature to look at can be very soothing.
